On June 27, The Santiago Columbia Global Center, in association with Chile’s Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS), held a seminar entitled “Promoting Equality through Sustainable Public Transportation“ in the eve of the international two-day conference “Mobilize Santiago”, organized at the country’s capital by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP). The event brought together urban transport practitioners and researchers, including two of Columbia’s topmost experts on the field, to discuss best practices and propose sustainable projects that would encourage access, promote the design of joint transportation and land-use public policies, and fight social segregation in major cities.

The panel discussion featured Elliot Sclar and Jacqueline Klopp, Director and Researcher, respectively, of Columbia’s Earth Institute Center for Urban Transportation; Juan Carlos Muñoz, Director of the Bus Rapid Transit of Excellence and of CEDEUS; and Pablo Schwarz, Deputy Manager for Research at Santiago’s Subway System (Metro S.A.)
