PEOPLE BUILDING BETTER CITIES NEW YORK

The traveling exhibition People Building Better Cities (PBBC)  will be shown   at the AIA Center for Architecture from Tuesday December 3 to Saturday  January 4, 2014.
PBBC has been shown in 12 cities and eight countries in 2013, and has been translated into five languages. While the exhibition focus is on developing countries it speaks to urban issues in the US such as inequality, public participation in city making,  climate change and education. Through the Resource Platform (website below), the PBBC project shares  knowledge through films, talks, articles, books, websites and organizations  working in these fields. In each city  where PPBC has been shown exhibition partners have held public programs to localize some of the questions PBBC raises.  There will be three forums in New York: two in Manhattan and a third in Midlands Beach , Staten Island – an area severely impacted by Sandy.  PBBC is a collaboration between Global Studio and the Center for Sustainable Urban Development in the Earth Institute, Columbia University.
